xxxHOLIC & Tsubasa

Wow, it’s been a really long ride since the manga first began in 2003, but it seems like Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle will be concluding on 7 Oct, according to ANN and the CLAMP website. That leaves us with just 3 more weeks to tie up all the loose ends.

I’m really interested in seeing what CLAMP plans to do about it, after the revelation of the past of clone/original Syaoran/Sakura that left readers with a headache, the disappearance of Yuuko from xxxHOLIC that left some fans in tears, Watanuki’s realisation of his connection to the 2 Syaorans (yet to be covered in xxxHOLIC), and his declaration that they all have to return to where they should belong.

Now I have another reason to look forward to 7 Oct, apart from just Sasameki Koto.

And does that mean the third and final season for Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle anime will be coming out soon?!

Shin-chan Creator Gone Missing

A bit of random news. I was planning to wait till he was found, but alas, it’s been 6 days now.

51-year-old Crayon Shin-chan manga creator Yoshito Usui has been missing since Friday (Sept 11), and his family asked the police in his hometown of Kasukabe to launch a search effort on Saturday, according to the Sankei Shimbun paper’s source who is connected to the search. Police in Usui’s home prefecture of Saitama (northwest of Tokyo) have contacted the police in other prefectures to expand the search. Usui’s publisher Futabasha told Sankei Shimbun, “He has not been in contact [with us], so we are very worried.”

The latest update on his search is as such:

According to police, the mobile phone of missing Crayon Shin-chan manga creator Yoshito Usui was last detected in the vicinity of Karuizawa, a town about 100 kilometers (about 60 miles) northwest of his Kasukabe home, on Monday. Karuizawa is located in the mountainous eastern part of Nagano Prefecture, near the border of the equally mountainous Gunma Prefecture.

Usui had reportedly told his family on Friday morning that he was “going hiking for a day in Gunma Prefecture,” but he has not been heard from since. In particular, Usui is said to have expressed his intent to climb the Arafune mountain, which towers 1,422 meters (4,665 feet) high at the border between Nagano and Gunma Prefectures. The authorities have not detected any signals from Usui’s mobile phone since Monday.

So Yoshito Usui is probably not kidnapped, but got himself lost in the mountains? Hopefully it’s not the other possibilities such as accidents, since I hope he’ll return safe and sound and continue producing more of Crayon Shin-chan for fans.

Hoping for his safe return

Valkyria Chronicles – 24

I have been trying hard to refrain from talking about this series till it ends, but it’s really sad when plot twists fail to surprise, character developments are shallow, and pacing completely off. To end off this ranting,

All hail Prince Maximilian!

Maximilian is such a villain, unlike his evil-eyed, mask-wearing but totally awesome counterpart.

2 more episodes left. Then for the new season!
